4 Year Old Kills Father Over PlayStation!

I am sure that many of you have heard of those rare occasions when a child’s obsession with video games get out of hand and parents end up getting hurt. I specifically remember one incident back in 2008, when a 17 year old kid by the name of Daniel Petric shot and killed his mother and wounded his father because they refused to allow him to play Halo 3. Yesterday, a similar incident occurred, but this time with a 4 year old boy in Saudi Arabia.

Apparently, the boy wanted his father to buy him a PlayStation. When the father returned from the store without the requested device, the boy picked up the handgun his father had temporarily set down and he fatally shot him in the head.

This killing is astonishing, simply due to the young age of the boy and the circumstances under which he shot his father. Despite the tragic nature of this killing, the event has already sparked controversy over the issue of video game violence corrupting youth. Although I don’t personally think this was the case in this instance due to the extremely young age of the kid, many feel as if even a 4 year old may have been motivated to kill because of the numbing effect of violent video games.

So what do you guys think about this whole situation and what are your opinions on video game violence and their effect on impressionable youth?
