E3 Announcement of Halo 4

Ok I have to get this out! I am so excited for the upcoming release of Halo 4, and to my great joy I just found the E3 footage of the game that played at the convention. I was thoroughly impressed with what I saw. Not only does it seem like 343 industries is doing a brilliant job of adding on to Halo’s legendary story, but they are doing so in their own way without destroying the game’s reputation. Although there is still a lot about the game that will be impossible to determine until its official release, I am comforted to know that, so far, this new release is going according to Bungie’s original plan.

I did have one concern about the actual gameplay footage that I saw. It seemed very reminiscent of Halo 3’s first mission titled Sierra 117. Although this critique is only based on watching the short 5 minutes of gameplay that are available on YouTube, it will be interesting to see how the game turns out. Despite this, I have no doubts that I will be purchasing a copy of this game.

Release Date for Halo 4 Announced!

If you are a serious gamer and you own an Xbox 360 then you probably know all about Halo. I made a blog post regarding the release of Halo 4 which you can read here. As I stated in this post, Bungie, the original creators of the franchise, will not be releasing this game. They sold the series to 343 Industries, who are again teaming up with Microsoft to release an Xbox exclusive Halo 4. This game has generated a lot of hype as hardcore Halo fans question whether or not 343 Industries can live up to the legacy that Bungie has left behind. Well we are getting to closer to finding the answer to this questions as 343 Industries has finally anounced the release date for the game. This Election day, Novemer 6th 2012 Halo 4 will be released to the public. I am sure I will buy this game as I adore the Halo series, but unlike some I am not quite as much of a dedicated fan. I thihnk the games are incridible and the story line is unmatched by any other game series, but I have never been one to count down the days till a Halo release.

The Long Awaited Halo 4 is Finally Here!!

Ok before a dive into this post I’ll just throw in a little bit of back story for anyone who does not know about Halo’s history. The first three Halo games, Halo 1, 2 and 3 were all created and developed by the company Bungie. These first three games completely revolutionized first person shooters and all video games in general, with the first release being all the way back in the year 2000. After Halo 3’s release in 2005, a new company, Ensemble Studios, contributed to the Halo legacy and released a real-time strategy game based off of the Halo series in early 2009. Later that year Bungie continued its evolution of the Halo story with the release of Halo 3: ODST. I made a blog post with my opinions on this game which you can check out here is you are interested. After this, Bungie announced with was going to release its final installment into the Halo series, Halo Reach, and that after this the rights to the game would be sold to 343 Industries.

As of Saturday, 343 Industries has uploaded a video showing what they have been working on for Halo 4 which is set to be released this holiday season. This new Halo is supposed to really focus on the backstory of the infamous Master Chief, and to bring light to certain elements of the story that you can only find in third party content outside of the actual game. They have also updated the graphics so they are up to par with 2012 gaming standards and they have made many weapon changed, including bringing back the battle rifle.

There is no real way to tell if this will be a quality game or not, as it will be 343 Industries first release of a full game all on their own. I don’t know exactly what to expect, but being a huge Halo fun I am sure I will be buying this game as soon as it comes out.
